by the way…
Susie at Target may be single-handedly responsible for the mounting landfill problem caused by plastic grocery bags. The hubs came home from the grocery the other day with about 20+ bags packed just like this. (He forgot to take in our cloth bags, grrrrr). Really??? Three small items in one big bag??? So yes, it’s wonderful that the hubs does our grocery shopping (thanks, bee bee), but please, next time if you see Susie, it wouldn’t hurt to give her a few pointers on bagging effectively.

Shame on you Susie!!!! And shame on Target for not teaching responsible bagging to their baggers!
It makes me terribly frustrated and sad to see people using plastic bags, in the USA. With everything we know about climate change, how can this be happening still? Why can’t they just impose a huge tax on bag usage.. that will stop everyone cold turkey.. like in Ireland.
Perhaps seeing a picture of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.. the size of Texas will be an eyeopener. What will it take I wonder.. for government, businesses and people… because in the end it is about people making right decisions.. to turn this around.
As you can see… this is one of those things I am passionate about. In this day and age.. packaging is not ‘cool’ anymore. Reuse bags. Like they did many years ago. Target really should know better. :(

That is the COOLEST pictures of a Target back ever! (I know that wasn’t the point of the post…but oh my, what a great photo)

Wow. Plus, those Target bags are the thickest, sturdiest plastic bags I’ve seen at stores. It’s not going to rip if you put more than 3 items in it! I bought a cloth bag AT Target one time that says “I don’t do plastic” and after the checker swiped it he proceeded to put it IN a plastic bag. I had to explain to him 3 times what I wanted him to do with it. I would love to see plastic bags have a price tag, don’t they do that at Ikea? Sometimes when I forget to take my cloth bags somewhere other than a grocery store (I always remember there for some reason) I repackage the plastic bags after I pay because they’re usually totally inefficient at filling them up.

That is so universally TRUE, unfortunately! Funny shot.

I KNOW! What is the deal! When I forget my bags they put like…well 3 items in a bag. But when you bring your own reusables they STUFF them to the top…I don’t get it.

Thats horrible! Where I am, we have banned lightweight plastic bags, BEST THING EVER!

I try to use my pockets or purse when I forget my bags. lol Some of the cashiers are a bit too bag crazy. I had to fight with a kid at Target to not bag my toothbrush and toothpaste (only two items). Once at Home Depot I lost the fight over bagging a roll of Duct tape. Really bagger? I could put the thing around my arm even if my hands were full. What’s the point of the bag?

Yes here in Ireland we need to pay for every bag we use this would never happen your grocery bill would double lol thats an incredible waste

OK. You just hit on a pet peeve of mine. Brace yourself. ;) I hate that feeling of not wanting to inconveinence the clerk who seems determined to give me a bag but I really don’t want one. Can’t I just stick those things in my purse… or carry them in my hands. I have been known to divvy up quite a few items to hubs, and two kids and myself just to avoid the bag.
Take that Susie at Target~ ;)

It is amazing! They’ve just started charging for bags where I live, at least at the grocery stores. I think right now it’s $0.05/bag which isn’t really a lot because if you get 20, that only works out to $1. Plastic bags should be banned, period.

I live in Australia, first of all I would just like to point out that we can’t get food at Target here, its just a clothes/manchester/toys/electronics store.
But at the beginning of July this year they started charging 20c each for their plastic bags! Yay! Hopefully now all the other department stores will follow suit!
